Database Security Research Paper – DRAFT Please see attached file for guidance
- You must submit a rough draft at the end of Week 5. This is to be a complete paper, meeting the page requirements – not a partially completed paper. Points will be deducted for short or incomplete papers. Your rough draft will not be graded by the rubric, but helpful feedback will be provided to indicate where you are falling short. You may correct any deficiencies before resubmitting your final version at the end of Week 7.
- Typewritten in double-spaced format with a readable style and font and submitted inside the electronic classroom (unless classroom access is not possible and other arrangements have been approved by the professor).
- Page margins Top, Bottom, Left Side and Right Side = 1 inch, with reasonable accommodation being made for special situations
- Your paper must be in your own words, representing original work. Paraphrases of others' work must include attributions to the authors. Limit quotations to an average of no more than 3-5 lines, and use quotations sparingly! It is always better to paraphrase than to directly quote.

Describes the steps involved in resetting the root password in Windows
As simple as it may seem, there are steps involved in changing the root password in Windows. Taking around two minutes to finish, the four-step process consists of both user and administrator tasks. It is advisable for the user to first consult the Microsoft website for information on changing their password. After doing that, they must restart their computer in Safe Mode and, when requested, enter "admin" into the username field.
The next step is for them to type "root" into the password field and press Enter. Activating "Safe Mode" will require them to simultaneously hit CTRL, ALT, and DEL. The Advanced Options button will then need to be clicked in the Safe Mode menu. After that, users ought to select Command Prompt from the available options on the screen and input "passwd" in response to the prompt. After the password resets, it must be updated once more using the same password.
Password resets require a distinct user ID while in an administrator session. For this purpose, the user must create a new account. To prevent users from being able to reset their passwords, a "deny" access policy can be established. After that, the account can be easily added to the group. This group gives the administrator the ability to reset passwords, which is not recommended if there are several users because it will grant access to all of them. After that, the account's administrator needs to set a new password and let it expire. The group to which the user has been added should then be removed. At this point, they can reset their password and modify it once more.
Detailed description The following is an overview of the step-by-step instructions for changing the Windows root password: 1. After starting the computer in Safe Mode, the user enters "admin" in the username box and "root" in the password field, then presses enter. 2. The user clicks the Advanced Options button on the menu and simultaneously pushes CTRL, ALT, and DEL. 3. To reset their password, the user then selects Command Prompt and enters "passwd" at the prompt. After that, they will need to reset it once more using the new password they made just for this account.
4. The user must establish a new account in an administrator session in order to reset passwords. In addition to setting a new password for this user, they must permit the "deny" access policy. The administrator can then remove the group that the user is being added to after the password expires, which will happen in thirty minutes.
